Novoe Iskusstvo opened in the summer of 2009, run by the team who had spent the late 90s building the cult Moscow shop Mir Kino, and the new place put music on CD and vinyl at the centre. In 2013 Afisha magazine put it in the top five record stores in Moscow. Stock comes in weekly from Europe, the US and Japan, covering the majors and a long list of independents, racked by genre with staff who know it. New and old vinyl, CDs, Japanese pressings, DVDs, Blu-rays, cassettes, books and accessories are all on the shelves, and everything listed online is physically in the shop: no pre-orders, no prepayment, no bootlegs or replicas. It ships across Russia from Butyrskaya 5.
