Metropolis sits at Makedonska 21 in the centre of Belgrade and does three jobs in one room: music shop, cafe restaurant with a summer garden, and concert space. The shop side carries domestic and foreign releases on CD and vinyl, plus Lenco turntables. The label behind it, Metropolis Music Company, was founded in 1994 and put out records by Dza ili Bu, Goblini, Van Gogh, Ritam Nereda, Block Out, Kanda Kodza i Nebojsa, Eyesburn and Sunshine, adding a jazz imprint, Metropolis Jazz, in 2016. Over 200 concerts have been staged here across every genre, and the calendar keeps filling with DJ sets and album launches. The cafe opens at 09:00 daily, to midnight most nights and 01:00 on Friday and Saturday.
