The soul and rare groove branch of Disk Union in Ochanomizu deals in soul, funk, disco, blues, Brazil, latin, reggae, soundtracks and wamono, with dedicated staff per genre across both records and CDs and a stated policy of putting out only what those staff have picked. Saturdays are for premium deleted-record sales, one week 70-odd soul and rare groove LPs, the next deleted soul and funk 45s, with numbered tickets on the door. The buying side runs its own want lists, including a shop-only soul 45s list built around modern soul, crossover, disco and boogie, and takes stock over the counter, by post or by house call.
