33 1/3 began in 1983 when Bernie B. and Toni set up tables in a garage in Duisburg-Duissern and sold off whatever vinyl they had spare: Stones, Kinks, Who. Mike Voigt bought in by 1985, when Clash, Damned and Sex Pistols records were being traded across the counter, and the shop outgrew the garage and moved along the same street to Moltkestrasse 47, spreading out over roughly 70 square metres. Zepp Oberpichler officially took over running the shop in January 2021. The racks and tables now carry close to 30,000 records across jazz, rock, pop, reggae, blues, classical and plenty more.
