Academy has been a New York institution since 1977, when it opened as Academy Book Store, expanding into records in 1995. The flagship sits on West 18th Street in the Flatiron between Union Square and Madison Square, and forty-odd years of buying and selling across every genre have made it one of the names collections get offered to first. There is a Greenpoint annex, which functions as the warehouse outpost for the 18th Street shop.
