Action Records began on a Blackpool stall in 1979, just as the independent scene was emerging, and moved to Preston in 1981, where it has stayed, stocking a huge collection of new and used music. Departments run from rock, indie and classical to jazz and blues, reggae, country and folk. Its own label has released The Fall, Mark E Smith, the Boo Radleys and Dandelion Adventure, and membership of the specialist independent chains secures the Record Store Day allocations.
