Art Rock No.1 has sold and bought used records and CDs in Kyoto since 1997, from a seventh-floor room on Kawaramachi near Nijo. It carries all genres, from reasonable everyday titles to records that are genuinely hard to find, and the buying side is where its reputation sits: specialist staff with twenty-five years behind them assess collections in the shop, at your house, or by post, and it publishes what it has just bought, from western rock and film music to city pop, fusion, melodic hardcore and anime. It also takes stock on the road for department-store record fairs.
