Asfalt Shop started in 2007 as the mail-order counter for Asfalt Records, the Warsaw rap label, and sold nothing but its own catalogue until it began stocking the records the people running it actually wanted - Stones Throw first, then most of the rest. It only became a room you could walk into around the end of 2015, on Kredytowa 9, and it now trades on the second floor of Mysia 3 as Asfalt Winyle i Wino, which is a record shop and a wine shop and entirely unapologetic about it. Several thousand titles, weighted to classic and Polish hip-hop but reaching across black music and electronic records, and it is still the label's own shop rather than a chain's idea of one.
