Neil Kinder started Astonishing Sounds in Blackburn in 1986 and opened the Burnley shop in 1989. He has collected records since the age of seven and opened up to sell the music he liked, mostly indie pop and rock at first, quickly widening to hip-hop, reggae and anything good, a buying policy that still holds. Obscurity and rarity interest him more than price, and the shop has taken part in Record Store Day every year since 2010.
