Backtracks opened in Edinburgh on 1 November 1989, initially selling good quality pre-owned records, tapes and videos plus deletions and rarities, and reaches its thirty-seventh anniversary in November 2026. Vinyl, films, retro games and consoles, hi-fi separates and music equipment share the shop, and the same operation runs a mobile disco and DJ hire across the Lothians.
