Big Love grew out of Escalator Records, which started in Shibuya and moved to Harajuku around 2002 before being renamed in 2008 to concentrate on western independent music. Haruka Hirata founded it and runs it with Masashi Naka, and every record, cassette, CD and zine in the place is there because one of them wanted it - subterranean indie rock, melodic hardcore, electronic and experimental. It is on the third floor of a small Harajuku complex, small enough to cross in a few steps, with a cafe corner serving beer. They have been particularly good to Australian bands, touring Total Control in Japan
