Black and Read has been Colorado's favourite indie store for over 30 years by its own count, specialising in vinyl LPs both re-issues and originals, CDs, cassette tapes and 8-tracks across all types of music, especially metal, punk, soundtracks, R&B, soul and all forms of rock. Half the store is given over to books, board and role-playing games, DVDs, videos, laserdiscs and toys, with thousands of half-price or lower used books. There is a separate discount store ten minutes south on Wadsworth, open Saturdays, where LPs are $1 and CDs $3. They buy, and they host a wide variety of events.
