Otto Kraanen started Bordello A Parigi in 2011 as a label and webshop, added a distribution arm for like-minded imprints, and opened the shop on Oudezijds Kolk in 2017 - so the shop is the third thing the business became, not the first. The label is the one most credited with giving Italo-disco a second life: eighties arpeggio basslines and the vocals that go with them, crossing into neo-disco, synthwave, electro and house. In 2021 it opened a bar with a DJ booth around the corner
