Iwan Lozach and Mark Adolph opened Born Bad on rue Keller near Bastille in 1998; it is on rue Saint-Sabin now. Punk, rock and roll, cold wave, post-punk, sixties, garage and electro-rock, which is a narrower list than most shops carry and the reason people cross the city for it. In September 2006 Jean-Baptiste Guillot - a former major-label A&R who had spent a decade inside the industry - started the Born Bad label alongside it, betting on garage rock at the moment electronic music owned Paris. The label's other half is reissues: French records from the fifties through the eighties by artists who went unnoticed at the time, which it describes as exhuming people who were too far ahead of their era
