Cactus Music is Houston's oldest independent music store, with over 40 years of service. Its roots are in the Daily music family: Pappy Daily's sons HW Bud Daily and Don Daily opened Cactus in 1975 and it was one of the country's first music super stores. Co-owner Quinn Bishop and a longstanding team run the 5,800 square foot room at 2110 Portsmouth and S. Shepherd, carrying almost every physical format plus historic memorabilia, hard-to-find items and music gifts, and putting local, regional and national talent on the stage for weekly in-store performances. Inside sits The Record Ranch, a 1800 square-foot vinyl-only store and art gallery named for the original Daily's Record Ranch in the Heights.
