Planet Candy started in the late eighties, when the owner took over a small shop in Copenhagen because he was worried the industry was about to do away with vinyl in favour of CDs. He would only sell original pressings, so he set up his own import business rather than take the cheap mass-produced stock the Danish distribution system was selling, and through the nineties brought in the earliest pressings he could find, many first prints. Today the shop at Vestergade 5 in Koge is selling down the rest of that stock, plus commission sales for old customers and locals with nice pressings. There is also a small collection of new records, some UK imports, good pressings from Nordso Records, and records from artists who like the concept. The same address runs Cupedia, a wine list of exactly two growers: Weingut Dr. Crusius in the Nahe and Castello di Verduno in Piemonte.
