Leonard Gordon opened Canterbury on East Colorado Boulevard in 1956 and it has been in Pasadena ever since, which makes it the oldest surviving record shop in Los Angeles - it outlasted Tower, it outlasted Virgin, and it is still in the family, run now by Charles Gordon. It is a generalist by design rather than a genre specialist: new and used across everything, sold to people who have been coming in for decades and to people who have just discovered the format.
