Casbah started in about 1985 buying at boot sales and dealers and selling from a stall in Greenwich market. An indoor unit followed in the mid-nineties, then around 2000 a mobile shop in a converted bus driven round festivals, and finally a permanent home on Creek Road in February 2009. The range is deliberately unbounded - rock and roll, R&B, surf, soul, prog, folk, blues, reggae, jazz, Afrobeat, psychedelia, hip-hop, punk, indie and electronica - alongside film, and it may be the last shop in London stocking 8-track cartridges, with the means to play them.
