Chicken Records sits on Via Rovigno d'Istria in the Villa Gordiani quarter of Rome, between Centocelle and Pigneto, next to the park it takes its name from. It began in 2019 as an online operation and became a shop in September 2021, built out of the idea that collectors and obsessives needed a room of their own. The racks run new and used vinyl in LP, 12-inch and 7-inch, plus CDs, cassettes, books and music DVDs, with a lot of secondhand alongside a picked selection of reissues and new releases, and anything still in print can be ordered in. Condition is the point: every used record is checked, cleaned when needed on an ultrasonic machine, and bagged in a thick PVC sleeve. They buy vinyl too, in cash, in the shop.
