Serge Verschuur founded Clone at the end of 1992, starting as a techno label in 1993 and adding the shop and a distribution arm a few years later. Thirty-odd years on it is one of the fixed points of independent electronic music in Europe, and the shop is where the label's taste is most legible - Rotterdam's answer to the Detroit records it has always been closest to.
