Cob started in 1967 as a back-room sideline selling ex-jukebox singles and has been under the same ownership ever since. Demand for current LPs and singles followed, and through the seventies and eighties the bulk of the trade was mail order - a small shop in a small Welsh town exporting in such volume, and often supplying albums abroad weeks or months before their local release, that it drew documentary crews from local and national television and radio. It has sold every format of music since it opened
