Crocodisc has been on rue des Écoles in the fifth since the end of 1978, and grew into three separate shops on the same street - one for rock, one for black music, one for jazz - holding something like half a million items between them. The soul and world shop came about ten years after the first. Vinyl, CD, cassette and DVD, new and second-hand, across pop, rock, blues, jazz, reggae and world music. Splitting by genre into separate rooms rather than separate racks is an old idea and a good one: you dig one thing properly instead of everything badly
