Silvije Varga and his brother started Dancing Bear in 1990 as a distributor and retailer, opening two of the first CD shops anywhere in the former Yugoslavia, and began releasing records under the name in 1992. Three decades on it is one of the largest record companies in Croatia, sitting on a deep regional catalogue and handling Domino, PIAS and Epitaph for the territory. The shop on Gundulićeva deals in new vinyl only, from everywhere, and the part worth the walk is the Croatian and ex-Yugoslav shelf, which is not stocked properly anywhere outside the region.
