Dark Earth calls itself a rare beast, the only proper specialist heavy metal record shop in the north of England and the pride of the Merseyside metal scene. It is a purveyor of records, books, zines and art, specialising in black, death, doom and thrash from Emperor to Napalm Death and Candlemass, with a book list running through black metal theory, photography, folk horror fiction and the occult, and an annual programme of exhibitions by artists and photographers.
