Michael Engelaan and Erwin Zimmerman spent over twenty years working markets and fairs for the second-hand records nobody else had, and Demonfuzz on Nieuwe Binnenweg is what that turned into: somewhere around 180,000 records in stock, which is a genuinely uncommon number and makes it the city's deepest room. Engelaan's own line is that the street has an appealing effect on people who are crazy about music, which is why several second-hand shops sit along it.
