Der Plattenladen opened at Schiffstrasse 8 in Freiburg in June 2021, a brand new specialist dealer for CDs and LPs from Tom Lissy, Markus Muffler and Holger Dehno. The motto is beraten lassen statt berieseln lassen: get advice rather than be drizzled on by an algorithm. Tom has over 16 years selling records, plays in a band and DJs; Holger spent over 20 years in one of Freiburg's best known CD shops; Markus ran the Burghof in Lorrach and its STIMMEN festival. In December 2024 the shop took the EMIL, the German prize for record shops, in the new openings category, handed over in Cologne by culture minister Claudia Roth. Open Monday to Friday 10 to 19 and Saturday 10 to 18, and they now print their own tote bags.
