Desert Island Records splits its Tucson stock into crates you can actually shop: afrobeat, country, electronic, funk, soul and R&B, global, hip hop, instrumental, jazz, metal, pop, punk, reggae, rock and soundtracks, plus an audiophile section, indie exclusives, a Wall Records rack and a Desert Island Recommends shelf for the staff's own calls. The shop sells the hardware to play them too - turntables, cartridges, preamps, speakers and record cleaning supplies - and puts its name on cork and felt slipmats.
