Dub Store started in April 1993 as a mail-order record business in Fukuoka run by Naoki Ienaga, who had spent 1991 learning the record trade in London, and moved to Tokyo in June 1997 to open the Dub Store Record Mart in Shinjuku, still a reggae specialist shop. Around it has grown one of Japan's largest music-software businesses: wholesale from 2000, the reggaerecord.com online shop from 2002, its own Dub Store Records reissue label from 2004 with some 600 releases including unissued material, official Japanese agent for Studio One since September 2006, a download store from 2013, and since 2018 Record City, an all-genre new and used online shop taking in J-pop, rock, jazz, reggae, soul and classical. Stock runs past 1.2 million items and ships to more than 100 countries.
