Earwax opened in 1990 and is the oldest record shop still trading in Williamsburg, part of the cultural shift that took hold there in the early nineties. It spent twenty-two years on Bedford Avenue before moving to North 9th Street in July 2013. The buying is deliberately selective rather than exhaustive - new and used LPs and 7-inches picked by staff who treat it as their job to find the best record in the room - and it carries a small range of decent hi-fi: turntables, receivers, integrated amps and speakers.
