Amy and José opened El Vinyl Bar in the middle of 2017 inside Casa Quién, a gallery in Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial, and it is still the only space of its kind in the Dominican Republic - which is why it functions as a meeting point for the island's independent music and art people as much as a shop. Latin, salsa and merengue, new and second-hand, and the section worth watching is the local one: Dominican artists have only recently started pressing vinyl again, and this is where those records surface first.
