Rand Foster opened Fingerprints on 17 July 1992 in Belmont Shore, in his own words on a shoestring, some crazy dreams and a credit card cash advance. It spent 18 years there, moved downtown in 2011, and moved again to Bixby Knolls in March 2025. The in-store programme is the thing: around 70 shows a year through the downtown period, with Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, Taj Mahal and Prophets of Rage among the people who have played a record shop floor in Long Beach.
