Mark Burgess opened the first Flashback in Islington in 1997, on two floors just off Essex Road, with vintage clothing in the basement and records upstairs until the clothes moved across the road in 2000. Crouch End followed in 2006 and this Shoreditch shop in 2014, in a large two-floor property at the top of Brick Lane on Bethnal Green Road. The buying leans hard into rare and collectable - first pressings and hard-to-find releases - and Time Out has voted it one of the best shops in London.
