Dan Cook opened Gimme Gimme in New York's East Village in 1994, selling records at the exact moment everyone else was selling CDs. About eighteen months in, an upstairs tenant fell asleep with the bath running and the leak came down squarely on the only section of CDs in the shop; Cook took it as a sign and went vinyl-only from that day. After eighteen years the building was sold, so he moved the whole collection to Highland Park in 2012, first on York Boulevard and since 2015 in the larger North Figueroa shop. Used, deep, and arranged by someone who has done this for thirty years
