Going Underground opened in 2001, originally on Melrose, and Adam Schwartz has run the Los Angeles shop since the start; it now sits in Little Tokyo with a second storefront up in Bakersfield. The taste is unambiguously punk, with metal and goth bins alongside, and a lot of rare and limited pressings for a room that size. It runs a label too, putting out records by Seudo Youth, Human Mess and G*U*N*, which is the difference between a shop that stocks a scene and one that is part of it.
