Golden Discs has been Ireland's largest and most popular music chain since 1962, when Jack Fitzgerald and Tom Rogers founded it as the Trans-Atlantic Record Agency, or TARA. Its first shop stood on Dublin's Tara Street, on the site of George O'Reilly's original Tara Records, where Nat King Cole had appeared in 1955. It grew by importing American hits direct into a rock and roll hungry Irish market, then rode the British beat boom, and today sells vinyl, CDs, films and merch to customers in more than forty countries.
