Gramofon Evi started in June 2003 in an 8 square metre space in Izmir, where there was barely room to move, and built its record archive there before word of mouth and the collectors found it. Along the way the family behind it began gathering the objects and mechanicals used in old homes and workplaces, so the shop now spans records, turntables, gramophones, radios, amplifiers, ephemera, furniture, instruments and toys, restoring and selling pop-art, retro and vintage pieces of every era. Turkish and foreign 33s, 45s and shellac 78s sit next to cassettes and CDs, and they service neglected turntables, radios and nostalgic devices as well as restoring antiques. Having worked in Balcova and Alacati, they now operate at Kizlaragasi Hani as Gramofon Evi and Gramofon Evi Atolye.
