Heribert "Mue" Meuser and Frank Stratmann were DJing by 1988 and opened Groove Attack as a shop in Wuppertal in 1990, moving it to Cologne in 1992. It grew into one of Germany's significant independent distributors, focused on hip-hop and drum and bass, with labels of its own - Groove Attack Productions, Krush Grooves, Superrappin. The shop was sold to its long-serving staff in 2004 and kept the name with "Record Store" added, and it is still in the same basement near Brüsseler Platz. The hip-hop section is the reason to come and is as deep as anywhere in the country
