Highlife Records on Commercial Drive has been selling vinyl, CDs and tapes in Vancouver for more than forty years, built around world music and the crossings between it: the shop's name is its politics. It runs an in-store performance series it calls Tiny Shop Concerts, has hosted book events and benefit sets, and its staff picks are worth more than most shops' entire recommendation sections.
