Hotwax is one of the newer arrivals on the Gloucester Road strip, where Bristol's record shops have clustered for decades, and it splits its floor between a counter and a cafe. The stock leans electronic, global, jazz, drum and bass and techno - the second of those genres being the one Bristol has arguably done more for than any other British city, and the one most shops file under nothing in particular.
