The musician Brad Germain opened Into The Abyss on Locke Street South and ran it there for close to five years before moving into Hamilton's International Village in 2022. It moved again in early 2026, a few doors along the same block, after the previous building suffered a sprinkler flood and then a partial collapse of its front facade - which is a more literal account of what independent retail survives than most shops can give. Records alongside vintage clothing and merch, with several live performances a month and regular pop-ups, so it functions as a small venue as much as a shop.
