Into the Music has been on McDermot Avenue in the Exchange District since 1987 and is the largest record shop in Winnipeg - thousands of new and used LPs, forty-fives, CDs and films, running from current indie pop through psych and prog rarities to punk and metal. For most of four decades it has been the only shop of its scale between Toronto and Calgary, which in a country this shape is less a boast than a job: a prairie city keeps its record culture because one shop decided to carry it.
