In 1976 Jerry Weber and Jim Petruzzi opened Record Graveyard under a huge sign reading WE BUY RECORDS; a few years later Jerry opened Garbage Records, which was soon renamed Jerry's Records. Since 1994 it has been in the Squirrel Hill neighbourhood of Pittsburgh, in a 10,000-plus square foot former car dealership on the second floor of 2136 Murray Avenue, and in 2017 Jerry retired and passed ownership to longtime employee and fellow vinyl-lover Chris Grauzer. There are nearly 1 million used records with new inventory added daily, all genres including many that other stores do not bother with, priced to move from Holy Grail rarities to the semiannual Dollar Sales. Only a limited inventory is sold online because in-store shopping is the point. Future Zone, opened in 2023, widened the range of physical media.
