Kind of Blue is in Lastarria, on Merced, and takes its name from the Miles Davis album for the obvious reason: it started out as a shop for classic jazz and blues and grew from there. The catalogue now runs through electronic, alternative, classical, contemporary and avant-garde music, deliberately aimed at the people the ordinary Chilean record trade does not serve, and the vinyl upstairs is imported from Europe and the United States alongside films and books. It began life as a shop called Voces del Mundo that sold more Indian imports than records, which is not the kind of origin most jazz shops admit to.
