José Antonio Pérez started selling his own record collection at the Rastro in 1984 and turned it into a shop. In the good years La Gramola had seven of them across Madrid; there is one now, on Postigo de San Martín, where it has been for over twenty years, run by his two sons. The buying is pop, heavy, rock and punk in the main, with flamenco, soul and Latin American records - salsa, bossa - alongside.
