Matt Sullivan founded Light in the Attic in Seattle in 2001, joined soon after by Josh Wright, and it became one of the most respected reissue labels anywhere - Rodriguez, Betty Davis, Karen Dalton, Lee Hazlewood, Jim Sullivan, Donnie and Joe Emerson, Hiroshi Yoshimura, and the compilations that introduced a lot of people to Japanese city pop, country funk and ambient. The label opened its first shop in December 2013, in a corner of its own Ballard warehouse, and has since also run a room in the KEXP Gathering Space downtown
