Love People Records in Kensington, Maryland was opened by Quartermaine, known as Q, and Rita, who DJs as Reets. Q moved to the DMV in 1996 to attend the University of Maryland and stayed, DJing as Supa Qool DJ Uncle Q, working as a third of the group Critically Acclaimed, and running Uncle Q's Living Room at the Blue Room in Washington DC, one of the more memorable gathering spots of the 2000s. With a second child on the way in early 2020 the pair began thinking about retiring from nightlife, and in September 2021 a chance opportunity let them build the shop instead. Vinyl in every size, CDs, DVDs, VHS, cassettes, posters, art and apparel.
