Lukes opened in Calgary's Bridgeland neighbourhood in 1951 and is the oldest independently owned pharmacy in the city, still working out of its original location three generations on: Jim Lukes founded it, Bob Lukes took over in 1985 and Gareth Lukes has owned it since 2013. The business is focused on supporting local brands, artists and community, runs a second store in Killarney, and, in a nod to its 1950s soda fountain, makes its own soft serve.
