Founded on Kauppakatu in 1977 and settled on Puutarhakatu since 1991, Lukulaari is now the oldest bookshop in Tampere. Tens of thousands of books, comics, magazines, films and records fill it, and it buys as readily as it sells. The shop has changed hands within its own staff: Juha Kallunki took over in 1991, and when he retired in 2021 it passed to Jani, who had worked there for years.
