M-Theory Music opened on 15 December 2001 and has established itself as the premier independent and tastemaker vinyl record store in San Diego, now at 827 W Washington St. The shop plays an active part in the city's art and music scene with in-store performances, art shows, listening parties, DVD screenings and midnight sales, and has taken Best Record Store nods from San Diego CityBeat, 944 Magazine, the San Diego Union-Tribune and San Diego Magazine, plus an honorable mention from Spin as one of the top 15 independent record stores in the country.
