Mitch came to Berlin in 1992 for the club music and opened Melting Point on Neue Schönhauser Straße in Mitte in 1994 with two friends, as an extension of their own clubbing and DJing and to fill a gap - a town fixated on the tauter sound of techno was not well served for good house records. It became the shop for DJs pushing the slower, funkier end at Planet, E-Werk, WMF and Tresor, and widened out into second-hand disco, boogie and funk. Rising rents pushed it out of Mitte in 2005 and it moved to Kastanienallee, then the cheaper option
